One of my favourite TAZ headcanons is that on the Homeworld they didn’t really have “Magic” like wizards and wands and sorcerers. Like, there’s stock put into faith-based healings and cleanses but if they had wizards at some point it’s a few thousand years behind them.

But after a hundred years of learning and adapting, when the crew reach Faerun Taako and Lup just “Haha silly locals call it magic but that’s just <technobabble>.” “Hey Lup look at this dope hat I found.” “Bro, put the robe on, you gotta.”

Cue mind-wipe, and Taako is a Wizard. Capital W arcane hoo-doo user. His way of getting the result isn’t quite the Faerun mysticism and evocation but a blend of maths and elemental points. Same result, different method, which is why he’s just an “Idiot wizard”.

Then comes the Story and Song, and Taako, Chief Arcanist and Homeworld Professor of Matter Conversion and Elemental Manipulation, looks down at his pointy hate sparkled robe potion belt get-up that he’s been sporting with absolutely no sense of irony for twelve long years and just

“I look boss but Lucretia what the fuck.”
