Ok, so Zebede discourse aside, I think we really haven’t paid enough attention to his abilities. Namely, the fact that he appears to have some level of animal communion. True, Sollux could put his bees to sleep, but he couldn’t control them. And this,
sounds considerably more reminiscent of Tavros’ ability, albeit nowhere as powerful.
In Tegiri’s route, we get this little nugget:
Notice the wording here. “Nonstandard hemological attributes,” not, “off spectrum.” This implies a broader meaning. In this context, “hemological attributes” mightn’t only refer to blood color, but also the abilities usually associated with it. This would render it illegal to depict a troll of one caste as having abilities associated with another one.
But! The term used is “nonstandard,” and as such does not imply that such instances are impossible in “real life,” only that they are unusual and are not allowed to be depicted.
Zebede appears to be an example of this, having an ability associated with bronze bloods despite being a gold blood. Now, he’s only one caste level away from bronze, so that suggests that there may be a smidge of drift. Meaning, that although rare enough to be illegal to depict, it is in fact possible for trolls of one caste to have attributes/abilities “belonging” to an adjacent caste.
This would give us the potential for instances including (but not limited to):
Psionic Limes and Bronzes
Sun Resistant (possible Rainbow Drinker?) Olives and Teals
Indigos with Mind Control (either kind)
and my personal favorite
Purples with Gills and Violets with Chucklevoodoos
Now I’ll admit, I do seem to have something of an obsession with Marvus, what with most, if not all, of my theories mentioning him in some way shape or form, but come on, he’s super mysterious, and this ties into my very first theory about him, that he’s a violet in disguise. Taking this theory into account however, there enter two new possibilities in which he doesn’t really count as disguised:
1. He’s a Purple with Gills and just kinda hides them because he kinda isn’t supposed to have them.
2. He’s a Violet with Chucklevoodos and membership with the Clown Church is a smidge more to do with the associated abilities than the actual blood color. (meaning you could also have indigo clowns)
Do with this biology theory what you will; my brain generally just jumps to Marvus.
