If being transgender is nothing to do with gender roles, why is it that virtually every trans woman grows their hair long, starts shopping in the women’s darpartment, wears makeup, women’s perfume, i. e performs femininity

And the majority of trans men don’t wear makeup, cut their hair short, buys clothes from the man’s section, wear mens cologne, i. e performs masculinity.

Hell a lot of trans people cite “wanting play with boys/ girls toys when they were younger” as an indication that they were trans. As if that means anything.

Or not feeling completely “masculine” or “feminine”. Like uhhhh no one completely does, they’re arbitrary oppressive gender roles and feeling uncomfortable with them is normal. Especially seldom women throughout history have felt “conformable being a woman”.

It’s like they’re trying to uphold gender in society as legitimate.

Because society demands trans people do so.

The frustrating thing about this is that it’s halfway towards recognising a genuine problem, but takes a shortcut to blame trans people.
