i mean ur not wrong but also the fight for marriage equality came from the aids epidemic when queer people weren’t allowed to sit with their partners as they died in the hospital just because they weren’t legally married

#also they couldnt have a voice in their partners’ healthcare#they weren’t able to share insurance coverage#all of which mattered a whole fucking lot during the aids epidemic#the push for marriage equality comes entirely from the activism during the aids epidemic and im tired of people acting as if#marriage equality was fought for so we could fit in with heteronormative society because thats not why marriage equality became an issue#it became an issue because people couldn’t be with their lovers as they died  via (@jewishbuckybarnes)
