Portland has a Doctor Who themed bar/restaurant called The Tardis Room where they do all the stuff superwholock kids talk about like serve themed food and have trivia nights and according to almost every review its one of the worst places on earth
my favorite review started cold with “it’s sadder on the inside”
this is a super old post but i love the like hundreds of people angrily telling me to “just let people have fun” on it as if i personally made this establishment suck by popular opinion
When I was 18 and attending college, I was a suffering from bad social anxiety, and I’m sure everyone knows that means you never want to draw any kind of attention to yourself and avoid conversation with strangers as much as possible. One day I was crossing a large road in Dublin City to run for a bus and I fainted suddenly, landing flat on my face in the middle of the road with cars coming towards me. Quickly people ran to grab me and pull me back to the path. My nose was bleeding, people offered me tissues. I was crying and in full panic attack mode but one lady offered to take me to a cafe to help calm me down. She called into work telling them she’d be in late. She bought me a coffee and sat and chatted with me for half an hour, asking what I’m studying and managing to calm me down. She was so sweet and made the whole situation so much more bearable. I got into college late but I didn’t mind because I was in a much better state and I appreciate that lady so much..
“Being born quirkless in a world where most everyone has a quirk of some kind” is a pretty solid premise. Gives us the whole “rooting for the underdog” theme from the get-go. Izuku gets rejected at every turn for wanting more than anything to be a hero, and he’s rejected every time due to having no quirk. I get it. I get that. I see that.
But also, I just need to say, I lose my mind every time I rewatch episode 1. Every goddamn time and it’s strictly because of this screenshot.
These are. These are Izuku’s classmates. The ones pursuing the hero track. Somehow the series’ world-building just glosses over the fact that ¾ of the quirked populace has stupid fucking quirks. That seems important. That’s a big fucking deal. Like Horikoshi could only draw so many background characters before going “fuck it, he’s got fucking stretchy fingers that’s his fucking quirk”.
That fucker in the middle. That fucking stupid snail-boy. What’s he gonna do? Is he gonna spy on villains by looking over a wall that’s one foot taller than he is? “Oh shit boss, he’s looking above eye-level, we’re screwed now boss”
