even my homophobic dad made a good point about homophobic people. he said that when you mention a gay couple to homophobes they always get disgusted and the first image that pops in their head is fucking in the ass, lesbian porn etc, etc and when you mention straight couples to them they think about two people holding hands and romantic shit like that. i hate this so much because homophobes consider gay people to be something disgusting and impure which is infuriating because they consider gay people to be these objects that only think about dick or pussy and that being gay is the only thing that ecompasses a gay person, like we don’t have personality or something
This reminds me of when I was younger and told my mom about a story I was writing. The main male character has a male love interest. As I was talking, she cut me off and said “Oh, great. So the whole story’s about sex.”
I couldn’t even understand what she was talking about. I just kinda gave her an attitude back with “actually–no it’s not.” And she was really sarcastic about it and said, “Actually, yeah it is.”
I didn’t realize until just now that her entire perspective of what being gay is, is this gross sexualization of everything.
thank you for adding this comment because i fucking hate the gross sexualiation
the taz fandom claims to be inclusive and very homophobia/transphobia free but the way so many people treat taako and lup says completely otherwise. so many people treat taako like a walking gay stereotype and even more treat lup like Big Buff Wife Kill Me Step On Me So Violent which is incredibly trans misogynistic and honestly y’all need to cut that shit out ESPECIALLY if you’re not a gay man treating taako like that or a trans women treating lup like that. it’s extremely homophobic and transphobic and very transparent y’all only ever care about your Woke Points when you’re making taako more feminine than lup or lup more masculine/buff than taako.
To add onto this, taako is painted as a hypersexualized Gay man in every situation, which! Is a dangerous gay stereotype. Taako flirts with one guy in the whole arc, while many people write him as having sex with any guy that breathes. While many trans women choose to dress more “masculine” it’s telling when people refuse to draw Lup with an ounce of femininity. She is described as wearing a dress in a live show, she’s not afraid to wear a dress, but some people are afraid of putting a trans women dress because of, you guessed it, transphobia.
Not only that but some people HYPER feminize taako (out of this world skirts, dresses, sparkles, etc) when he wore a purple skirt once, and then turn around and make Lup super masculine- which is valid if you are a transwoman and masculine- but a lot of the time it’s not trans people doing this.
