Absolutely not and I’ll tell you why.
It started with the classic “are you a boy or a girl” and since I’ve been harassed and even assaulted, I decided to answer jokingly by “I’m a lemur” to avoid unsolicited attention.
Because I love lemurs, and they’re endangered. So I use my little bit of fame (I have a decent amount of followers here and there) to spread the word about lemurs going extinct. Even if I only reach one person out of ten, it’s something.
Then people went on asking personal questions and for the reasons disclosed above, I made an FAQ and to avoid drawing myself because I think it’s pretentious and I absolutely didn’t want to stare at myself to make an auto portrait I drew this lemur because people are more enclined to read a comics than simply text in an FAQ. Also people kept asking about lemurs, which was good. Some of them actually learnt things.
So now the lemur is my mascot because I can drew it quickly, because I love drawing lemurs, because lemurs are important, so you can keep me out of your furry jokes, thanks. I really don’t like them.
I’m very sorry, I was joking around and was unaware you were uncomfortable with it, it’s perfectly understandable not wanting to be associated with furries and the furry fandom especially after recent drama. Again I’m very sorry
